Ty Cowan started off his water polo career knowing nothing about the sport but eager to play. At the first practice, I was able to see his potential because he was passionate about becoming a better player. When I asked him what his goals were in water polo, he responded with "to practice until I never get it wrong". He dedicated himself to achieving that goal. Once he was given the task to become one of team goalkeepers, he used his experience from other sports such as soccer to help him achieve the goals. Not only does he have exceptional reflexes and a strong arm, but he has a mind of an phenomenal athlete. It is easy to be an athlete in the pool, anyone who practices a lot can improve, but what makes Ty unique is how he composes himself. He is humble, dedicated, and passionate, and I know that he will continue to grow as a player and as a person.
