USA Women Take Seventh Place At FINA Women's Youth World Championship

Belgrade, Serbia - September 3 - After two one-goal losses, the USA Women's Youth National Team finished strong at the FINA Women's Youth World Championship with a 10-6 win over Russia to earn seventh place. Abbi Hill and Valerie Ayala scored three goals each in the win with Hill earning game MVP honors. Georgia Phillips recorded 14 saves in net. The two teams were even early on with the scored tied at 2-2 after one. Team USA took a decisive lead in the second quarter going in front 6-4 at halftime. They expanded the advantage to 8-5 after three quarters. In the fourth the United States held Russia to just one goal on the way to the four goal victory. 

Team USA went 3/12 on power plays and 2/3 on the advantage with Russia going 1/5 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties. Spain took the overall title with Italy earning silver and Greece taking bronze. For complete results, click here.
