USA Women Win UANA Youth Pan Ams Gold With 9-7 Win Over Brazil

Lima, Peru - July 8 - The USA Youth Women's National Team defeated Brazil 9-7 to win gold at the UANA Youth Pan Ams in Peru. Jenna Flynn scored twice in the victory Carolyne Stern adding 10 saves in net. Stern was named Top Goalkeeper and Tea Poljak was named Most Valuable Player. For more information on the tournament, click here. 

Team USA jumped out to a quick start grabbing a 5-0 lead after the first quarter. They added two more goals in the second quarter to go ahead 7-1 at halftime. Brazil started to rally in the third quarter outscoring Team USA 3-1 to draw within 8-4. Brazil added three more goals in the fourth quarter but the United States scored once more in the fourth to build a two goal cushion en route to the victory. 

The United States went 1/4 on power plays while Brazil was 1/12 on the advantage with neither side attempting a penalty. Team USA went 8-0 in the tournament with victories over Puerto Rico, Canada, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago along with two victories over Argentina and Brazil.
