USA Youth Women Open Play In Peru With 27-3 Win Over Puerto Rico

Lima, Peru - July 1 - The USA Youth Women's National Team opened play at the UANA Youth Pan American Championship with a decisive 27-3 victory over Puerto Rico. Tea Poljak scored five goals to lead the offensive barrage with Carolyn Stern and Maya Avital combining for six saves in net. Team returns to play on Sunday against Brazil at 10am et/7am pt. Team USA opened up the match in control leading 10-1 after the first and 18-1 at halftime. They continued the onslaught in the second half outscoring Puerto Rico 9-2 over the final two quarters to win the game 27-3. The United States went 8/9 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties while Puerto Rico was 1/6 on power plays and did not attempt a penalty.
