Ashleigh Johnson Named AAU Sullivan Award Semi-Finalist; Vote For Ashleigh!

Ashleigh Johnson has been named a semi-finalist for the AAU Sullivan Award

Huntington Beach, CA - March 7 - 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Ashleigh Johnson (Miami, FL/Princeton/NYAC) has been named a semi-finalist for the AAU Sullivan Award. The award recognizes the most outstanding amateur athlete in the United States and has been awarded annually since 1930. Voting for the award is open from now through March 13 and can be accessed by clicking here. Be sure to cast your vote for Johnson, fans can vote once every 24 hours. The Florida native is joined by a host of elite athletes including diver Steele Johnson, wrestler Helen Maroulis, football player Deshaun Watson and gymnasts Aly Raisman and Laurie Hernandez among many others. 

Johnson powered USA Water Polo to their second straight Olympic gold medal in women's water polo in the Summer of 2016 earning top goalkeeper honors during the undefeated run. Last Fall she was named the Women's Sports Foundation Sports Woman of the Year in the team category, becoming the first ever water polo player to earn such an honor. The top goalie and MVP of the title game at the 2015 FINA World Championship, Johnson was also named Swimming World's top female water polo player for 2016. Currently Johnson is the starting goalkeeper for the Princeton University Tigers competing in her senior year season.
