USA Women Open Junior Worlds With 24-1 Win; Live Streaming Available


The USA Junior Women defeated Croatia 24-1 to start play in Volos, Greece

Volos, Greece - September 3 - The USA Women's Junior National Team opened up play at the FINA Junior World Championships with a 24-1 win over Croatia. Ryann Neushul led all scorers with five goals while Amanda Longan and Carlee Kapana combined for 12 saves in net. Team USA returns to action on Monday against New Zealand at 6am et/3am pt. Team USA built an early 6-0 lead in the the first quarter thanks to two goals apiece from Neushul and Abbi Hill. They added to that in the second quarter going up 11-0 at halftime on the strength of two goals each from Paige Hauschild and Denise Mammolito. They continued to pour it on in the third quarter piling up seven unanswered goals with two from Sarah Klass. Croatia got on the board with a goal in the fourth but Team USA responded with six more goals, including two each from Neushul and Val Ayala, to cruise to the 24-1 win. 

The United States went 7/12 on power plays and 1/1 on penalty shots while Croatia was 0/4 on power plays with no penalty shots attempted.
