Youth Men Fall To Russia 15-8; Will Play For 9th-12 Place At FINA Youth World Championship

Podgorica, Montenegro - August 31 - The USA Youth Men's National Team will play for ninth place at the FINA Youth World Championship after falling to Russia 15-8 earlier today. Marko Vavic led the offense with three goals while Samuel Krutonog and Sam Murphy posted 12 saves combined in net. Team USA now takes on Japan on Thursday in the 9th-12th bracket semifinal at 4am pt. Team USA led early on taking a 2-1 advantage after the first quarter but Russia rallied in the second to go ahead 6-5 at intermission. Russia took control of the match in the third outscoring Team USA 4-1 to lead 10-6 headed to the fourth. They put the match away adding five more goals in the final quarter to win 15-8.

The United States went 6/10 on power plays and 1/1 on penalty shots while Russia was 3/5 on power plays and 1/1 on penalty shots.
