USA Men Down New Zealand 7-3 For Second Straight Win At FINA Youth World Championship

Szombathely, Hungary - August 15 - The USA Youth Men's National Team picked up their second straight win at the FINA Youth World Championship with a 7-3 win over New Zealand. Ashworth Molthen scored three goals to lead the offense with Daniel Roland making nine saves in net. Team USA returns to play on Thursday in the qualification round when they will take on the winner of Russia/Hungary. New Zealand had a strong start to the match building a 2-1 in the first quarter after Team USA had scored the opening goal. In the second quarter the United States took control outscoring New Zealand 3-0 to go in front 4-2 at halftime. They went up 5-2 in the third quarter before New Zeland got back on the board to make it 5-3. Team USA added one more goal in the third quarter and then blanked New Zealand again in the fourth to pick up the four goal win. 

Both teams struggled on the power play with Team USA going 2/7 while New Zealand went 0/9. Both were flawless on penalties with each side going 2/2.
