Youth Men Drop First Game Of FINA Youth World Championship To Italy

Szombathely, Hungary - August 12 - The USA Men's Youth National Team started off play at the FINA Youth World Championship with a tough 9-8 loss to Italy. Hannes Daube led the offense with four goals with Daniel Roland making seven stops in net. The two sides were even early each scoring three goals apiece in the first quarter. Italy led early 2-0 but the United States battled back to tie the game at 3-3 after one. Team USA pushed ahead in the second quarter outscoring Italy 2-1 to grab a 5-4 lead at halftime. In the third quarter Daube scored consecutive goals to give the United States an 8-5 lead with 4:06 to in the period. Team USA would not score again. Italy scored four straight including the game winner with just :21 left in the fourth quarter to earn the victory. 

Team USA went 5/8 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties while Italy went 2/6 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties.
