USA Youth Men Tie Germany & Defeat Hungary In Latest Action In Serbia

Belgrade, Serbia - August 5 - The USA Men's Youth National Team tied Germany 8-8 before defeating Hungary 10-7 in action yesterday at the Mediterranean Cup. Ash Molthen scored four goals over the two games while Danny Roland piled up 23 saves on the day.

Team USA took control of things early against Germany leading 3-2 after the first quarter and 4-3 at halftime. They build the lead to 6-4 after three quarters only to see Germany rally in the fourth. Germany outscored Team USA 4-2 in the final period to force the tie at the end of regulation. 

Team USA went 3/7 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties with Germany going 1/4 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties. 

In the second match it was Team USA again starting off strong. The United States went ahead 4-2 in the first quarter and then 8-4 at halftime to take a commanding lead. They outscored Hungary 2-1 in the third quarter to lead 10-5 going to the fourth. In the final period Hungary was able to hold Team USA scoreless but they only mustered one more goal losing the match by three.

Team USA went 7/9 on power plays and 1/1 on penalty tries while Hungary was 4/8 on power plays and did not attempt a penalty.
