USA Youth Men Start Play At Mediterranean Cup With 8-6 Loss To Serbia

Belgrade, Serbia - August 2 - The USA Men's Youth National Team started play at the Mediterranean Cup in Belgrade, Serbia with an 8-6 loss to the host nation today. The event is serving as a warm-up for the upcoming FINA Youth World Championship in Szombathely, Hungary this August 11-19. Ash Molthen scored 3 goals to pace Team USA with Danny Roland stopping 11 shots in net. Team USA returns to play tomorrow against Montenegro and Germany.

Serbia build a lead early going up 2-1 after the first quarter and 4-2 at halftime. They started to pull away in the third outscoring Team USA 2-0 to take a 6-2 advantage. In the fourth quarter Team USA looked to rally outscoring Serbia 4-2 but would get no closer falling by two goals.

Team USA went 3/8 on power plays and 2/2 on penalty tries with Serbia going 6/10 on power plays with no penalty shot attempts.
