USA Men To Play For Gold At UANA Junior Pan American Championship After 12-9 Victory Against Canada

Clearwater, FL – July 14 – The USA Men’s Youth National Team will play for gold at the UANA Junior Pan American Championship following a 12-9 victory over Canada. Team USA built a big lead early and were able to hold off a furious second half rally from Canada to pick up the victory. Tanner Pulice scored four goals while Kent Emden stopped 13 shots including a penalty try. Team USA moves on to meet Brazil for the championship at 4:40pm et/1:40pm pt on Sunday. The USA Men jumped out a big lead in the first quarter opening up a 5-2 lead after the opening eight minutes. They maintained that advantage in the second quarter holding a three-goal lead at halftime ahead 7-4. In the third quarter they went ahead 10-4 before Canada roared back. The Canadians hit three goals in the final 1:20 in the third to close within three at 10-7 headed to the fourth. In the final period Canada clawed to within two goals at 11-9 with 3:49 to play. Nico Tierney hit a clutch goal with just 2:43 left and Emden came up with a monster penalty block moments later to secure the victory. Team USA went 2/9 on power plays and did not attempt any penalties while Canada went 4/11 on power plays and 1/2 on penalties.
