USA Youth Men Open Play In Clearwater With 10-10 Draw Against Brazil

Clearwater, FL - July 10 - The USA Men's Youth National Team faced Brazil in their first game of the UANA Junior Pan American Championships in Florida. Team USA battled back late to tie Brazil 10-10. Team USA got off to a slow start as they trailed Brazil early 3-1. Team USA fought back to tie the game at 4-4 in the second period, but Brazil responded with the last two goals as they took a 6-4 advantage into halftime. Team USA outscored Brazil 2-1 in the third quarter with Garrett Zaan scoring a late goal to pull team USA back within a goal at 7-6. Brazil jumped out to a three goal lead of 9-6 early in the fourth quarter, but team USA rallied to tie the game up at 10-10 on a last second goal.

In earlier action in the women's competition, Puerto Rico jumped out to a 5-2 lead over Argentina at the half and held off a late rally to win 7-5. In the second game Canada and Brazil faced off in a tight contest with Canada pulling out an 8-7 victory. The USA did not play today and their first game will be tomorrow.

In the first game of men’s action Colombia used their speed to take a 7-2 lead over Peru at halftime as they went on to win 11-5. In the second game Puerto Rico and Argentina traded leads throughout the match with Argentina pulling out a 9-8 victory. The third game of the day saw a barrage of goals from Canada as they defeated Barbados 29-4.
