Berkeley, CA - April 22 - Behind six goals from Olympian Luca Cupido, The Olympic Club outlasted the New York Athletic Club 15-13 to claim the 2018 National League title at the Spieker Aquatics Complex. Cupido was the high scorer in a high scoring affair that saw Olympic Club jump out to a 7-2 lead after the first quarter. They were able to hold off multiple rallies by New York including a late charge in the fourth quarter that saw New York draw to within a goal at 12-11 with 6:14 to play. For his efforts, Cupido was named Most Valuable Player. Teammate Paul Reynolds delivered three goals in the final and was the top scorer in the National League this season piling up 30 goals.

In third place USA University got past a short-handed Los Angeles Athletic Club squad winning 12-9 thanks to a team-high three goals from Hannes Daube. Fifth place saw Alumni defeat California/Golden Bear 12-9. Kevin Witt led Alumni with three goals while Chay Lapin stacked up 13 saves on the way to top goalkeeper honors. The seventh place match featured USA Collegiate taking on USA Youth and had the most exciting finish. After USA Youth built a 7-4 lead in the second half, Collegiate came back to tie the game at 7-7 forcing a shootout. The shootout went 11 rounds which each seemingly in control. It ended when Jonah Addington stopped an Ashworth Molthen attempt to give USA Collegiate the comeback win 16-15, their first victory in 2018.
