Irvine, Ca - March 12 - Week two of the 2018 National League returned to Southern California and the William Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, California. Three teams have emerged as title contenders through two weeks of play as the Olympic Club, New York Athletic Club and USA University are all at 5-1. Factoring in tie-breakers including head-to-head results and goals scored, Olympic Club is in the top spot after two weeks. This sets things up for a very competitive National League championship coming up April 21-22 at the University of California, Berkeley.

Youth Is Served: While games against the USA Youth squad do not count in the final standings, that didn't stop the squad of rising stars from defeating USA Collegiate 11-7 thanks to four goals from Ash Molthen.

Paul's Boutique: Paul Reynolds was a sure shot for the Olympic Club in their 11-5 win over the Los Angeles Athletic Club as he piled up a game-high six goals in the win. 

Advanced Placement: USA University picked up a big win over the Olympic Club with a 10-8 victory. That helped the squad keep pace among the league leaders as Johnny Hooper and Hannes Daube each contributed three goals in the win. 

New York Minute: It seemed as if the New York Athletic Club was averaging a goal per minute in their four victories over the weekend. New York outscored their opponents 61-22 to keep pace among the leaders. Their victory over USA Youth does not count towards league standings however. 

Olympic Goalie Showdown: In the New York Athletic Club-Alumni match, the athletes between the pipes had serious international experience. 2012 Olympian Chay Lapin recorded 12 saves for Alumni while 2016 Olympian McQuin Baron added 13 saves for the New York Athletic Club. New York got the win also by a final score of 8-5. 

Not So Close: Only two games this weekend were decided by three goals or less. Expect that to change as the National League Championship follows with a title on the line!
