USA Senior Men Edged By Croatia 10-9 In Latest Match In Italy

Siracusa, Italy - July 7 - The USA Men's Senior National Team battled Croatia once again, this time in Italy, and were edged 10-9. Matt De Trane (Moraga, CA/Pepperdine/NYAC), Max Irving (Long Beach, CA/UCLA/LA Water Polo) and Johnny Hooper (Los Angeles, CA/California/LA Premier) all scored two goals each in the match. Alex Wolf (Huntington Beach, CA/UCLA/Bruin) and Drew Holland (Orinda, CA/Stanford/Lamorinda) combined for eight saves in net. Team USA has the day off tomorrow and will resume play on Sunday against an opponent to be determined. 

Croatia jumped out to a quick lead going ahead 4-1 after the first quarter. They added on four more goals in the second and took control of the match to lead 8-3 at halftime. Both offenses mustered just one goal in the third leading Croatia ahead by five goals going to the fourth. The United States rallied in the fourth racking up five goals but it wasn't enough to come all the way back as Croatia held on for a one goal victory.

Team USA went 3/7 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties while Croatia went 3/6 on power plays and did not attempt a penalty shot.
