USA Men Fall To Hungary 9-7 In Second Match At Benu Cup

Budapest, Hungary - July 6 - The USA Men's National Team lost to Hungary 9-7 on the second day of action at the Benu Cup in Hungary. Max Irving (Long Beach, CA/UCLA/NYAC) scored four goals to lead Team USA on offense with McQuin Baron (North Tustin, CA/USC/NYAC) recording 12 saves in net. Team USA returns to action on Saturday to close out play in Hungary with a match against Romania at 3:45am et/12:45am pt. 

The two sides were even early with the match tied at 3-3 after the first eight minutes. It stayed that way in the second quarter with each side adding three more goals to forge a 6-6 tie at halftime. The theme continued in the third quarter with each side scoring one goal each to make it a 7-7 game going to the fourth. In the final period, Hungary was able to take advantage outscoring Team USA 2-0 to claim the two goal victory.

The United States went 2/7 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties while Hungary was 3/8 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties.
