Favorite Movie: Zoolander
Favorite Actor: Jim Carrey
Favorite Actress: Kate Beckinsale- I can't think of a good movie she's been in, but she is HOT!
Favorite Songs: Bag Raiders- "Shooting Stars," Don Henley- "The Boys of Summer," Cody Wiesen- "Fly Away"
Theme Song: Haddaway- "What is love." I'd probably develop some neck problems from the head bobbing if
Favorite Musical Artists: Rebelution, Augustana, Ratatat, Miike Snow, Kid Cudi, and of course Taylor Swift
Favorite Color: Cardinal
Facebook or Twitter: Facebook but I'm seriously contemplating making a Twitter one of these days.
Best Present Ever Received: My older brother and parents helped me buy my first car a few months ago, definitely a great present.
Best Halloween Costume: Its tradition on the Stanford water polo team for each class to choreograph costumes and my freshmen year- Sage Wright, Cody Wiesen, Will Smith, Drac Wigo and myself dressed up as Alice and Wonderland characters. Needless to say, Drac and I were Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (I can't remember if I was Dee or Dum...) The next three years we dressed up as Caption Planet, Harry Potter, and Nsync; they were good ones but nothing compared to our freshmen year.
Magical Power: A time traveler. I'd like to pet a dinosaur, find some buried treasure, and possibly meet some aliens in the future if I have time.
Famous Friends or Relatives: His brother, Wolfe Wigo (3 time Olympian).
Sport Other than Water Polo: Basketball, I have a mean left hook shot.
Causes or Charities: I care deeply for the ocean and its conservation efforts; it pains me to see how the human race is slowly destroying it. I basically grew up living on the beach- fishing, spear fishing, lobster diving, wakeboarding and surfing as often as I could. One pollutant that I'm mainly concerned about is plastic- Americans typically generate 10.5 million tons of plastic waste a year but only 1 to 2 percent of that gets recycled. In addition, plastic constitutes approximately 90% of all trash floating on the oceans' surface. And to help with the cause, three of my friends from Stanford (including my brother Drac) and I started a clothing company called Latis where each shirt is made from 50% recycled cotton and 50% recycled plastic bottles. Each shirt contains approximately five plastic bottles, and we believe that it's better to have the plastic on our backs rather than in the ocean... Check us out at Latislife.com for more information!
Best Thing about Water Polo: The best thing about water polo is the friends I've made. No matter how hard a practice is your teammates are by your side working just as hard as you. When you win you celebrate together and when you lose you pick each other up. There's no better feeling than playing for your teammates and knowing that they're playing for you.
JansonSays: My dad played water polo in high school and proceeded to swim at UNC while my older brother Wolf was playing polo long before I was born and competed in three Olympics (he claims he's a 4 time Olympian going on his 5th because he is the commentator for NBC), I guess it just runs in the family. I keep playing water polo mainly because of the support from my friends, family and coaches. My family has always been there for me whether it was my brother Drac pushing me inside and outside the water, to my parents driving me to an early morning practice, to them flying across the country to catch as many college games as they could, or even following me to Europe to watch me compete internationally; its been a blessing to have them by my side. My friends have always there for me, even when the times were rough, and I thank them for that. Finally my past Stanford coaches Vargas and Barnea, they have always been so supportive and generous to me, and I know that I will always have two guys I can confide in and know with out a doubt they are behind me and believing in me one hundred percent. But it's also more than that; it's the love of the game and my competitive drive that keeps pushing me forward though the tedious swim sets and the many hours in the weight room. With out passion and support, it would be way too difficult to keep playing but I'm fortunate to have both.
