Academic All-American Program
The 2017-2018 school year was the 12th year of the USA Water Polo Academic All-American program. This program recognizes student athletes for their accomplishments in the pool and in the classroom. View the 2017-18 Academic All-American Award winners.
2017-2018 USA WATER POLO ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN NOMINATION POLICY
A USA Water Polo Academic All-American is a student-athlete who has earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher for the 2017-2018 academic school year; completed the 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the spring of 2018; is a current USA Water Polo gold athlete member; and has competed in a USA Water Polo National Event during the 2017-2018 academic school year. There is a $45 non-refundable application fee. The application is available online through your membership account. We will be accepting applications starting April 17th, 2018. E-mails will be sent out when the application process opens.
1. Must have completed the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade during Spring of 2018
2. Be a current USA Water Polo athlete member (gold) for the 2018 membership season
3. Competed in a USA Water Polo National Event or National Event Qualifier
4. Must have a 3.60 grade point average on a 4.00 scale (weighted) for entire 2017-2018 academic year - we do not round up to a 3.6 or a 4.0 rather only accept a 3.60 or higher and 4.00 or higher for the "outstanding honors."
5. Weighted GPA is calculated on a 5 point scale.
6. GPA is weighted and calculated using the following academic subjects: History/Social Science, English, Mathematics, Laboratory Science, Foreign Language, and Computer Science
7. We do not accept Fine Arts, Electives, Health, Physical Education or Sport ex. (Music, Journalism, Photography, Culinary Arts, Drivers Education, etc.)
8. We do not accept any College courses or credits.
9. Application and fee MUST be completed online by July 17th, 2018
10. Incomplete or Late Applications will not be reviewed and/or accepted
2017-2018 Required Materials

2.) Participate in a National Event
2017-2018 Qualified National Events Include:
2017 Junior Olympics
2018 Junior Olympics Qualifier
2018 ODP Program Participant (Must have competed in the ODP Zone Championships)
3.) Official transcript
We require an Official Transcript from the school with the official school seal for the entire 2017-2018 academic year. Transcripts must be POSTMARKED BY August 24th, 2018. This must be mailed in a sealed envelope or emailed directly from the school's online transcript system, if applicable (ex: Parchment). Online transcript systems should use the following email address for submission: AAA@usawaterpolo.org. Faxes, opened envelopes, or forwarded email transcripts WILL NOT be accepted. To be considered "official" mailed transcripts must remain sealed as issued by the school. Forward these documents directly USA Water Polo as-is; please do not open the envelope as this will void the transcripts. Transcripts must be POSTMARKED BY August 24th, 2018 - but application & fee MUST be completed prior to deadline of July 17th, 2018 to qualify for the extended transcript deadline. You can log on to your Membership Account to check the status of your application.
Please note: Due to such a high volume of transcripts, we may not be able to verify if we have received it. Contact your school first to see if the transcript was sent before contactacting USA Water Polo. To guarantee delivery, we recommend sending your transcript certified mail.

4.) Fee of $45
There is a non-refundable application fee of $45 due upon application submission online. Applications are not complete until fee and transcript have been received.
1. An Academic All-American certificate and patch will be mailed to the student-athlete.
2. Outstanding Achiever recognition is given to each individual who maintained a 4.00 GPA or higher.
Notification of Award
Official award notification will be sent out in September 2018. As transcripts are received and processed, members may login to his/her online membership account to see the status. There will be a notification on the right-hand side of the member's profile indicating qualification status. Please note summer is a very busy month, so while the transcript may have been received, it may not be processed right away. Please allow additional time for us to process the transcripts. As noted above, to guarantee delivery of your transcript, we recommend you send it certified mail, following additional requirements listed above.

Outstanding - student athlete received the Outstanding Academic All-American award given to those with 4.00 GPA or higher
All-American - student athlete received the Academic All-American award given to those with 3.60 GPA or higher
Submitted - application has been submitted however no transcript was received, transcript was incomplete (not the full school year), transcript was not official, etc.
Did Not Quailfy - student athlete's GPA does not qualify him/her for All-American award or no transcript was received prior to the deadline.
