BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Stanford University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and Bucknell University top the national rankings as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) released the 2011 Men's Varsity Week 6/October 12 National Top 20, Division III Top 10 and CWPA Top 10 Polls.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
2011 Men's Varsity National Top 20
Stanford University continues at No. 1 in the Week 6/October 12 Men's Varsity National Top 20 poll as the Cardinal garnered 99 points to fall one point shy of their second consecutive week as the unanimous top team in the nation.
The Top 10 in the nation remain unchanged from last week as the University of California-Berkeley (95 points), University of California-Los Angeles (89 points), University of Southern California (88 points), University of California-Santa Barbara (79 points), University of the Pacific (75 points), University of California-Irvine (70 points), Pepperdine University (67 points),University of California-San Diego (59 points) and Concordia University (52 points) held on at No. 2-through-10, respectively.
The University of California-Davis (45 points), which was tied with Concordia at No. 10 in the October 5 balloting, slips to No. 11 this week.
Long Beach State University (41 points) is the first team to improve its position in the poll as the squad moved up to No. 12 and dislodged Loyola Marymount University (40 points) as the Lions slide to No. 13.
Santa Clara University (34 points) and Bucknell University (20 points) experienced the largest jump as both programs climbed four places to take over at No. 14 and 15, respectively. Princeton University (28 points), which fell to Bucknell over the weekend, slips to No. 16, while the United States Air Force Academy (18 points) and United States Naval Academy (18 points) stand tied at No. 17.
St. Francis College (13 points) and California Baptist University (12 points) round out the Top 20, while Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (2 points), Brown University (2 points), University of Redlands (1 point) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (1 point) received votes.

2011 Men's Varsity Division III Top 10
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges returns to the top position among Division III teams for the first time in over three weeks as the squad picked up 97 points in the Week 6/October 12 Men's Varsity Division III National Top 10 poll.
CMS terminates the reign at No. 1 of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges which reigned in the September 21, September 28 and October 5 polls after ending the Stags three week run at No. 1 (Preseason, September 7, September 14).
Overall, the Division III poll experienced a radical shakeup in the Top Five as the University of Redlands (92 points) climbs three places to No. 2 and California Lutheran University (89 points) moves up one spot to No. 3, while Pomona-Pitzer (85 points) and Johns Hopkins University (84 points) slip to No. 4 and 5.
Chapman University (72 points), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (71 points) and Whittier College (68 points) remain at No. 6-through-8, with Occidental College (60 points) and University of La Verne (46 points) exchanging the final two positions in the Top 10.
Pennsylvania State University-Behrend (11 points) and Washington & Jefferson College (11 points) round out the teams receiving votes.

2011 Men's Varsity CWPA Top 10
A new team takes over at No. 1 in the Week 6/October 12 Men's Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 Poll as Bucknell University downed Princeton University 10-6 in Southern Division-East Region play over the weekend.
The Bison, who garnered 100 points to rank as the coaches' unanimous selection as the No. 1 team in the league, jumps up one place after ranking at No. 2 last week. Princeton (93 points) drops back to No. 2, while St. Francis College (N.Y.) (86 points) and the United States Naval Academy (85 points) hold on at No. 4 and 5, respectively, for another week.
Johns Hopkins University (80 points) stays at No. 5 after claiming the spot a week ago, but the Blue Jays now have company in the Top Five as Brown University (80 points) used victories over Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to strengthen its case for a Top Five position.
The final five spots in the Top 10 remain relatively unchanged as Fordham University (62 points) and MIT (52 points) stay locked at No. 7 and 8. Iona College (51 points), which was tied with George Washington University (50 points) at No. 9 last week edges ahead of the Colonials to claim sole possession of the berth.
Mercyhurst College (23 points) and Harvard complete the squads receiving votes.
