BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Stanford University, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and Princeton University top the national rankings as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) released the 2011 Men's Varsity Week 5/October 5 National Top 20, Division III Top 10 and CWPA Top 10 Polls.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
2011 Men's Varsity National Top 20
A new team takes over at No. 1 in the Week 5/October 5 Men's Varsity National Top 20 poll as Stanford University used a first place finish at the SoCal Tournament over the weekend to dislodge the University of Southern California from the top position.
USC, which claimed the 2010 NCAA Championship with a 12-10 overtime victory against the University of California-Berkeley, held the No. 1 ranking from the December 1, 2010 poll until this week, a string of seven weeks in the top spot.
Stanford, which defeated USC (6-4 W), University of California (10-9 W), Pepperdine University (7-6 W) and Princeton University(14-3 W) last week, leads a radically changed Top 10.
California, University of California-Los Angeles, USC and University of California-Santa Barbara round out the Top Five, whileUniversity of the Pacific, University of California-Irvine, Pepperdine University and University of California-San Diego rank at No. 6-to-9, respectively.
University of California-Davis and Concordia University (Calif.) stand tied at No. 10, while Loyola Marymount University, Princeton, Long Beach State University and the United States Naval Academy complete the Top 15.
The United States Air Force Academy, California Baptist University, Santa Clara University, Bucknell University and St. Francis College (N.Y.)round out the final five positions in the Top 20, with Johns Hopkins University, Brown University and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges receiving votes.

2011 Men's Varsity Division III Top 10
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges continues at No. 1 in the Week 5/October 5 Men's Varsity Division III National Top 10 poll.
The Sagehens, who took over at No. 1 from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges two weeks ago, maintains a six point lead over the remainder of the Division III field.
However, the No. 2 ranking in the nation changes hands as Johns Hopkins University climbs past CMS to take over the runner-up position. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps slips to third, while California Lutheran University and the University of Redlands exchange the No. 4 and 5 positions.
Chapman University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology trade off the No. 6 and 7 spots, while Whittier College,University of La Verne and Occidental College (46 points) complete the October 5 Top 10.

2011 Men's Varsity CWPA Top 10
Princeton University continues to roll along as the Tigers maintain their position as the No. 1 team in the Week 5/October 5 Men's Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 Poll.
The Tigers are followed by Bucknell University, which moves up one position to take over at No. 2, while St. Francis College (N.Y.)slips back to No. 3.
The United States Naval Academy, Johns Hopkins University and Brown University retain their positions at No. 4-through-6, respectively, to mark the final teams in the league to hold their berths from the September 28 poll.
Fordham University jumps two positions to take over at No. 7 and drop the Massachusetts Institute of Technology back to No. 8. Iona College and George Washington University complete the Top 10 as the Gaels and Colonials are tied at No. 9.
Harvard University continues to receive votes in the poll to barely miss out on cracking the Top 10.
