USA Junior Women Lose To Greece 9-7 On Day Three Of FINA Junior World Championships

Trieste, Italy - September 13 - The USA Women's Junior National Team fell to Greece 9-7 on day three of the FINA Junior World Championships. Ashley Grossman led the offense with three goals while Sami Hill posted 10 saves in net. Team USA finishes group play 2-1 and will meet Germany tomorrow in the crossover round. Greece wins Group C and earns a bye into the quarterfinals.
It was close early on with Greece holding just a one goal lead after the first period at 3-2. They went up 7-4 at halftime before the United States started to battle back getting to 8-6 at the end of the third quarter. In the final period Team USA looked to rally but could only muster one goal, countered by a goal from Greece, and the match ended at 9-7 in favor of the Greeks.
Other goal scorers for the United States included Dana Ochsner with two goals and Kiley Neushul and Dominique Sardo with one goal each. The United States struggled on power plays going just 1/7 while Greece was 4/7.
