Serbia Tops USA Junior Men 10-6 At FINA Junior World Championships

Volos, Greece - August 30 - The USA Men's Junior National Team closed out group play at the FINA Junior World Championships with a 10-6 loss to Serbia. Josh Samuels scored twice and Jon Sibley added 11 saves in the net for Team USA who will be back in action on Thursday, September 1 against an opponent to be determined.
The United States started off strong leading after the first quarter 2-1 before Serbia came back in the second period to grab a 4-3 lead going into halftime. In the third quarter the two squads traded strong defense with Serbia scoring the lone goal to go ahead 5-3 going to the fourth. In the final period the offense picked back up for both sides with the United States scoring three goals only to see Serbia explode for five scores to come away winners 10-6.
Other scorers for the United States included Brett Bonanni, Alex Wherry, and Nick Rascon who all scored once. Team USA went 4/8 on power plays and held Serbia to just 2/7 on their power plays. "Serbia is a very good team. We are continuing to improve and we look forward to and our preparing for our next match on Thursday," said USA Co-Head Coach Robert Lynn.
