USA World University Games Men's Team Takes Fourth Place With 10-7 Loss To Macedonia

Shenzhen, China - August 23 - The USA Men's World University Games Team fell to Macedonia 10-7 in the Bronze Medal match to earn fourth place at the 2011 World University Games. A balanced scoring effort saw Janson Wigo, Griffin Lerman, and JP MacDonnell score two goals each while Chay Lapin tallied 11 saves in net.

Macedonia started the game off in control posting a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the United States scored twice but Macedonia kept up the scoring with three goals of their own for a 7-3 lead at halftime. In the third quarter the two squads were even with a goal each to leave Macedonia leading 8-4 headed to the fourth. In the final period Team USA outscored Macedonia 3-2 but it was not enough to overcome the deficit as they lost by a count of 10-7. Other goal scorers for the United States included Clayton Snyder who added one goal.

The United States went 2/9 on power plays and 2/2 on penalties while Macedonia went 4/7 on power plays.
