USA Women's World University Games Team Defeats Mexico and Russia

Shenzhen, China - August 16 - The USA World University Games Women's Team continues to roll along as they picked up consecutive wins over Mexico 12-8 and Russia 12-10. Nadia Dan had a dominant string of games scoring seven goals over the two wins.

The match against Mexico started off slow with just a 5-4 lead for the United States. In the second period they posted a 3 goal quarter to go up 8-4 at halftime. In the third quarter the United States kept their lead up 11-6. The final period saw Mexico outscore the United States 2-1 but it would not be enough as the United States came away with the win 12-8.

Dan led the team with three goals while Pallavi Menon, Alyssa Lo, and Adrianna Vogt scored two goals each. The scoring was rounded out with Leah Robertson, Grace Reynolds, and Julia Oreglia scoring one goal each. Amber Oland went the distance in the net posting eight saves. The United States went 2/5 on power plays.

In the win over Russia it was more of the Dan show as she posted four goals, one coming on a penalty shot, to lead the United States. She was supported by two goals from Oreglia and a goal each from Menon, Lo, Robertson, Forel Davies, Kimberly Bendetti, and Caroline Clark. Oland was again solid in the net recording 11 stops. It was a deadlock throughout the first half as the teams were knotted at 4-4 after the first quarter and 5-5 at halftime. Russia surged ahead in the fourth quarter going up 9-7 with one quarter left. In the final period the United States rallied in a major way with a five goal period to come away winners at 12-10. For the second straight game the United States went 2/5 on power plays.
