USA Cadet National Teams Fall In Gold Medal Finals Of UANA Youth Pan American Championships

Puerto Rico - August 16 - The USA Cadet National Teams lost in close matches in their respective Gold Medal finals at the UANA Youth Pan American Championships that were completed over the weekend. The USA Women lost to Canada 7-6 and the USA Men fell to Brazil 6-4.

In the loss to Canada the USA Women got off to a great start going up 3-0 after the first quarter only to see Canada match the effort with three unanswered goals in the second quarter for a 3-3 match at halftime. In the third Canada outscored the United States 3-1 and were leading 6-4 going to the fourth. In the final period the United States posted two goals to just one from Canada but it was not enough as Canada was able to hang on for the win 7-6.

Kacey Avalos and Aley Vilches led the way with two goals each. Yamashiro and Grab chipped in with a goal each while in the net Hollinrake and Kapana combined for 14 saves. The United States went 3/6 on power plays but missed their lone penalty shot try.

For the USA Men they were paced on the offensive end by Bryce Hoerman who scored twice. Jordan Colina and Jamie Kuprenas scored one goal each while Nick Hoy tallied 11 saves in the cage. Team USA went 2/5 on power play opportunities.
