In the second game on Thursday Team USA rebounded from a difficult loss against the Greeks to defeat the skilled and speedy Spanish National Team 12-9. The US jumped out to a quick two goal lead behind back to back goals out of center from Alec Zwaneveld.  Spain would battle back and eventually conclude the first period in a 3-3 tie.  The two teams traded goals again in the second quarter highlighted by three perimeter scores at the hands of BJ Churnside, Kent Inoue and Ryder Roberts which punished Spain's zone defense.  In the third quarter again, the US could not shake their opponents as every goal was answered.  It wasn't until the fourth quarter that team USA finally got some separation after 3 consecutive goals from Roberts, Danny McClintick and Churnside to seal the deal.  The US squad never trailed in a game that was tied at the end of every quarter but the last. The US will play powerhouse Serbia in tomorrow's quarterfinal match.
