Acireale, Sicily-  August 10 - The USA Men's Youth National Team opened the 2011 Giugno International tournament against Montenegro earlier today falling 8-6.

USA struck first with a counter attack goal by Ryder Roberts less than a minute into the match. Montenegro evened the score up less than a minute later.  The teams traded goals until the halftime buzzer sounded with Montenegro holding onto a 4-3 lead. In the second half Montenegro stretched their lead to three goals in the third quarter before USA went on a three goal run to tie the game up at 6-6.  The American scoring run was sparked again by Ryder Roberts on a cross cage lob shot for his second goal of the match.  Roberts goal was followed by a James Walters penalty shot earned by Alec Zwaneveld at center.  Zwaneveld went on to score the final goal in the run with a strong move at Center to tie the game 6-6.

Unfortunately, that was all the scoring that the U.S. could muster.  Montenegro took a one goal lead with 6 minutes remaining and held on the rest of the way, finally scoring an insurance goal with less than two minutes left in the game for a final score of 8-6.  USA continues pool play Thursday August 11 against Greece and Spain.  Other participating teams in the tournament include 18 and under National squads from Croatia, Italy, Serbia and France.
