Day 2 of Women's U.S. Open of Water Polo Championship

Moraga, CA - July 23-  We are one day away from the Women's U.S. Open of Water Polo Championship. Teams continue with group play on Day 2 with advancement to the  winners bracket on the line.

 

Santa Barbara and NYAC (A) started off Day 2 full of excitement, as both teams went head to head at Miramonte High School.  Santa Barbara would lead the first three quarters, but that wouldn't stop NYAC as they came back to win 8-7. Tanya Gandy scored the winning goal with 13 seconds remaining in the game.  NYAC continued it's winning ways in their second game of the day as they defeated Great Lakes 12-4 at Acalanes H.S. NYAC advances to the semifinal game tomorrow morning at 10:30 against Stanford  (NYAC 4-0, Lakes 2-2)

 

Later on in the day at Acalanes H.S, Santa Barbara came back  with a victory over CHAWP 13-5, advancing them into the other semifinal game at 9:20 am (Santa Barbara 3-1, CHAWP 2-2).

 

In other quarterfinal action Stanford cruised to an easy victory over Davis 14-1, earning a semifinal match-up with NYAC. In morning action Stanford took down SET 19-2, going 2-0 for the day. (Stanford 4-0, Davis 2-2, SET 0-4)

 

Last game of the night, SoCal continued their winning streak defeating SC Valley 14-3. SoCal advances to the semifinal game against Santa Barbara in the first game of the winners bracket tomorrow morning at 9:20. (SoCal 4-0, SC Valley 2-2)
