China Tops USA Women 10-9 In Exhibition Match

Tianjin, China - June 9 - The USA Women's National Team has arrived in Tianjin, China in preparation for the upcoming FINA World League Super Final set for June 14-19. In the week leading up to the tournament Team USA is training with the Chinese National Team and playing a series of exhibition matches. In the first match they fell by a score of 10-9 despite two goals apiece from Kami Craig (Santa Barbara, CA/USC/Santa Barbara) and Annika Dries (Laguna Beach, CA/Stanford/SET) along with nine saves from Betsey Armstrong (Ann Arbor, MI/Michigan/NYAC).

China and the United States were tied 1-1 after the first quarter with China taking a 5-4 lead at halftime. By the end of the third period Team USA had evened the match again at 6-6 but in the fourth the Chinese would be one goal better coming away winners at 10-9. Team USA went 2/4 on power plays while China was 5/9.
