Memorial For Referee Marc Rauchwarger Set For January 9
1/6/2011 12:00:00 AM
Huntington Beach, CA - January 6 - Referee Marc Rauchwarger, who passed away in late 2010, will be honored this Sunday, January 9 at the Agoura High School pool at 1pm. All are welcome to attend.
Rauchwarger was beloved in the water polo community, as friend Allen Lorentzen wrote in to say, "Marc was really well liked by players, coaches, and his fellow refs everywhere - mostly because of his helpful, outgoing and friendly demeanor with everyone. There are a number of memorial efforts going on for him. At the recent Commerce tourney right after his death they had a ceremonial ball drop and minute of silence before the championship game to honor him. This Saturday the refs in his local Channel Coast area are wearing Hawaiian shirts while working the Westlake Frosh Soph Tournament and Coastal JV Championships at San Marcos and Santa Barbara High Schools. Most if not all of us are also donating a couple of game fees from those tourneys to his family in his name."
