BRIDGEPORT, Pa. --
The University of California garnered 100 points for a fifth
week in a row to remain as a unanimous top choice in the Week 11/November 17
Men's Varsity Top 20 poll released today by the Collegiate Water Polo
Association. The University of Redlands takes over at No. 1 in
the Division III Top 10 poll, while St. Francis College (N.Y.)
held onto the No. 1 ranking in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top
10 poll for another week.
Voted on by
a panel of coaches and administrators from around the country during the
preseason and each week of the season based on the cumulative results of each
team, the Varsity Top 20, Division III Top 10 and Collegiate Water Polo
Association Top 10 polls are released on Wednesday during the season until the
week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Championship.
Men's Varsity Top
20
The
University of California remains at No. 1 for another week as
the Golden Bears once again garnered 100 points to top the Week 11/November 17
Men's Varsity National Top 20.
California,
which garnered 95 points to edge out the University of
California-Los Angeles by a single point (95-to-94) in the preseason
rankings, previously ranked No. 1 as a unanimous choice in the September 8,
September 15, October 20, October 27, November 3 and November 10
polls.
The
University of Southern California, which held the No. 1 ranking
in the September 22, September 29, October 6 and October 13 polls, stays at No.
2 this week in front of a shake-up at No. 3-6.
Due to a
10-9 victory over former No. 3 ranked Stanford University, the
University of the Pacific jumps up two places to take over in
the No. 4 spot, one place behind new No. 3 the UCLA. Stanford slips to No. 5,
with the University of California-Irvine being squeezed down
to No. 6.
The
remainder of the Top 11 remains the same with University of
California-Santa Barbara, Loyola Marymount University,
Long Beach State University, Pepperdine
University and University of California-San Diego
remaining at No. 7-11 for another week.
The
University of California-Davis rises to No. 12, with
St. Francis College (N.Y.) holding at No. 13 and Santa
Clara University slipping two places to No. 14. Princeton
UniversityCalifornia Baptist University to take over
at No. 15, with Bucknell University, the United States
Naval Academy, Concordia Univeristy (Calif.) and
Brown University completing the 11th weekly Top 20 of the
regular season. exchanges places with

Men's Varsity Division III Top
10
The
University of Redlands returns to the No. 1 spot in the
Division III poll following a runner-up place mark last week as the Bulldogs
garnered 97 points to top the Week 11/November 17 Men's Varsity Division III Top
10 poll.
Redlands,
which replaces Pomona-Pitzer Colleges atop the national
rankings, is followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges,
Pomona-Pitzer, Johns Hopkins University and Whittier
College in the Top Five.
Pomona-Pitzer drops out of the No. 1 position following a weekend in
which the Sagehens dropped games to Whittier (8-5 L) in the Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) semifinals and a 10-9 defeat in
sudden death overtime to Redlands in the third place game.
The
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Chapman
University, California Lutheran University,
Occidental College and the University of La
Verne round out the Top 10.

unanimous No. 1 team for the third time in four weeks in the Week 11/November 17
Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 poll.
The
Northern Division champion Terriers, who were a unanimous pick three weeks ago
before holding off a challenge from the United States Naval
Academy by a single point two weeks and returning to being a unanimous
choice last week, now lead the conference by five points over Southern Division
champion Princeton University (100-to-95).
The
remainder of the poll remains unchanged as Bucknell University,
the United States Naval Academy, Brown
University, Johns Hopkins University, Fordham
University, MIT, Mercyhurst College
and George Washington University round out the Top
10.
