BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The
University of California garnered 100 points for a second week
in a row to remain as a unanimous top choice in the Week 8/October 27 Men's
Varsity Top 20 poll released today by the Collegiate Water Polo Association. The
University of Redlands takes over at No. 1 in the Division III
Top 10 poll, while St. Francis College (N.Y.) held onto the No.
1 ranking in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) conference for another
week as a unanimous choice.
Voted on by a
panel of coaches and administrators from around the country during the preseason
and each week of the season based on the cumulative results of each team, the
Varsity Top 20, Division III Top 10 and Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 10
polls are released on Wednesday during the season until the week following the
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
Men's Varsity Top
20
The University of
California remains at No. 1 for another week as the Golden Bears once
again garnered 100 points to top the Week 8/October 27 Men's Varsity National
Top 20.
California,
which garnered 95 points to edge out the University of
California-Los Angeles by a single point (95-to-94) in the preseason
rankings, previously ranked No. 1 as a unanimous choice in the September 8 and
15 and October 20 polls.
The University of
Southern California, which held the No. 1 ranking in the September 22,
September 29, October 6 and October 13 polls, stays at No. 2 this week as the
Top 10 in the balloting remains unchanged from the October 20 poll.
UCLA, Stanford
University, the University of California-Irvine, the
University of California-Santa Barbara, University of
the Pacific, Long Beach State University,
Loyola Marymount University and Pepperdine
University complete the Top 10.
Unlike the Top 10, the
No. 11-20 positions underwent significant changes.
Santa Clara
University climbs to No. 11 and the University of
California-San Diego holds firm at No. 12 to start the last 10
positions. The University of California-Davis slips into a tie
with St. Francis College (N.Y.) at No. 13, with the
United States Naval Academy and California Baptist
University exchanging positions from last week's poll to rate at No. 15
and 16, respectively.
The biggest mover of the
week is Bucknell University which rises from a tie for 20th to
take over at No. 17 on the heels of an upset victory against formerly No. 11
ranked UC-Davis.

The University of
Redlands returns to the top of the Division III world for the first
time in five weeks as the Bulldogs garnered 98 points to edge out former No. 1
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges 98-to-95 in the Week 8/October 27 Men's
Varsity Division III Top 10 poll.
The Bulldogs return to
the top of the standings after a four-week reign by the Sagehens thanks to a 6-5
victory by Whittier College over Pomona-Pitzer last
week.
Johns Hopkins
University and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges holds
at No. 3 and 4, respectively, while 2010 Division III Eastern Champion the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology breaks into the Top
Five.
Whittier, Chapman
University, Occidental College, California
Lutheran University and the University of La
Verne complete the Top 10.

University rank No. 2-4, respectively, for another week with
Bucknell University cracking the Top Five after ranking sixth
last week.
The Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and Johns Hopkins University,
which split at the Division III Eastern Championship over the weekend with the
Engineers claiming the title, are fittingly tied for sixth, with George
Washington University, Fordham University and
Queens College (N.Y.) rounding out the poll.
