Huntington Beach, Calif. – October 22, 2010 – Ryan Brown, a veteran assistant coach with the Men’s Senior National Team and head coach of the Men’s Junior National Team has resigned both posts effective immediately Men’s Senior National Team head coach Terry Schroeder announced today. A search is underway for a replacement.
“Ryan has been a vital part of our National Team program for the past five years. He played a huge role in our success in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing as our goalie coach, along with the continued development of Merrill Moses. On top of that, Ryan was a bit of a jack of all trades as he would fill in where necessary on our staff and help us get the job done no matter what that meant. To say he will be missed is a huge understatement as I have come to know Ryan as a true friend and wonderful peer on our staff. No doubt, he will be difficult to replace,” said Schroeder.
Brown served as assistant coach for the Men’s Senior National Team since 2006 which included a Silver Medal run at the 2008 Olympic Games. In 2010 Brown was named Men’s Junior National Team head coach where he piloted the group to a Silver Medal finish at the UANA Junior Pan American Championships this past August. From 2002-2005 he served as the Head Coach of the Women’s Team at the University of the Pacific. Brown is 2000 alum of the University of the Pacific where he was an All-American as a goalkeeper.
The USA Men’s Senior National Team finished the summer of 2010 ranked fourth in the world following a fifth place finish at the 2010 FINA World League Super Final and a fourth place mark at the 2010 FINA World Cup.
