Huntington Beach, CA – September 22 – The 2010 14 & U Champions Cup is set to take place this November 12-14 in Shenandoah, Texas at the state of the art Conroe Natatorium. The event, formerly known as Speedo Cup will bring together the best of the best in the 14 and under age group. Hosted by the Conroe Independent School District and North Houston Water Polo registration is currently ongoing and closes September 23, 2010.

As in years past 24 teams will be competing from all over the country advancing to the Champions Cup through zone qualification. 12 boys teams and 12 girls team will compete over three days of action to claim the title in one of USA Water Polo’s longest running events.

Formerly Speedo Cup, the event is now known as the 14 & U Champions Cup and in 2010 will remain in the central US and competed for the first time in the Southwest Zone.  USA Water Polo made this decision after being unable to secure a host in the Midwest Zone following a thorough and lengthy search.  “We are very excited about our new Southwest Zone host, but with the long and successful tradition of a Midwest Zone host we will likely look to return the event to the Midwest in the future,” noted Director of Sport Development, Scott Tanner. “What is most critical is that we continue to compete this event in an area that is a fantastic growth market for water polo.”

United of Los Alamitos claimed the boys title and Tustin (SoCal) won the girls crown in 2009 and both teams are currently in qualifications to attempt to defend their title in Texas.
