2010 S & R Sport Girls Junior Olympics Conclude

Los Angeles, CA - August 8 - The 2010 S & R Sport Girls Junior Olympics concluded today in Los Angeles along with the 10 and Under Co-ed division bringing a close to the world's largest water polo tournament. Medals were handed out across a variety of age groups with the Platinum finals wrapping up at the University of Southern California.

In the 10U Co-ed division held at La Canada High School in the Gold bracket Foothill defeated Bakersfield 10-5 to take the Bronze Medal while Rose Bowl downed Vegas 5-4 to grab the Gold Medal. In the Platinum bracket it was Northwood over Commerce 7-5 for the Bronze Medal and United edging SoCal 6-4 for the Gold Medal. United's Ashworth Molthen was named MVP of the 10U Co-ed division.

Moving over to USC in the 12 and under age group in the Gold bracket Northwood defeated Newport 6-2 for the Bronze Medal and VC Premier nipped Stanford 5-3 for the Gold Medal. In the Platinum division SET got past Santa Barbara 6-5 while Commerce posted an 8-7 win over Laguna for the Gold Medal. Commerce's Lizette Perez took home MVP honors for the 12U division.

In the 14 and under grouping in the Gold bracket it was Davis defeating Pacific Polo 5-3 for the Bronze Medal and Riptides over Stanford Red 9-8 for the Gold Medal. In the Platinum division Santa Barbara was one goal better than Elite at 10-9 to claim the Bronze Medal and Commerce picked up their second straight Gold Medal with a 7-4 win over SoCal Black. Ana Ruiz of Commerce was chosen as the MVP for the 14U Division.

The 16 and under division in the Gold bracket the team from Greenwich Aquatics downed Lyons 4-1 for the Bronze Medal and Rose Bowl defeated Newport 8-4 for the Gold Medal. In the Platinum flight Commerce picked up some more hardware with a 7-6 win over SET for the Bronze Medal and Santa Barbara toppled San Diego Shores 7-5 for the Gold Medal. Kodi Hill of Santa Barbara was named MVP of the 16U division.

Last but not least came the 18U division and in the Gold bracket Santa Barbara B defeated Spartan 7-5 to grab the Bronze Medal and Carlsbad was a 7-4 winner over Rose Bowl to take the Gold. In the Platinum flight Santa Barbara was a goal better than NorCal 8-7 and in the Gold Medal match with perhaps the most thrilling finish it was LA Water Polo over SoCal Black 13-12 in a shootout. LA Water Polo's Ashley Grossman was named MVP for the 18U division.
