UANA Junior Pan American Championships Set For South Florida August 10-16

Huntington Beach, Calif. – July 29, 2010 – The UANA Junior Pan American Championships return to the United States in 2010 and are scheduled for South Florida August 10-16 at Gulliver Preparatory in Pinecrest, Florida and Hadley Park Pool in Miami, Florida. Featuring the Men’s and Women’s Junior National Teams from the United States the event will also bring together the elite nations of the America’s in men’s and women’s junior water polo.

The USA Women’s Junior National 91U “A” Team under the guidance of first year Head Coach Heather Moody is coming off a first place finish at the Four Nations Tourney held last week in Los Alamitos, CA. Meanwhile the Men’s Junior National 93U Team led by their own first year Head Coach Ryan Brown capped a stellar training week in Italy that saw wins over Montenegro and Hungary and a second place finish in the seven nations tournament.  The UANA Junior Pan American Championships will feature the Women’s Junior National 91U “B” Team and the Men’s Junior National Team will comprise the 91U “A” Team.

All the action starts on Tuesday, August 10 at Gulliver Prep and the Hadley Park Pool with the competition concluding and medals awarded on Monday, August 16. Thus far 17 teams have committed to compete including the United States of America, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Netherlands Antilles, Colombia (men only), Trinidad & Tobago (men only), Argentina (men only), Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.

“This event is going to be great display of international water polo showcasing the best the Americas have to offer. As an added bonus a true world class championship event is brought to the state of Florida and an area in Miami that has seen great growth in the game in recent years. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic week of water polo,” said USA Director of Olympic Development Guy Baker.

Admission is free for all matches and fans and media are encouraged to attend and support the rising stars in men’s and women’s water polo. Schedule and result information will be available at www.usawaterpolo.org.
