US Olympians In Italy To Take Part In Charity Match For Haiti

Huntington Beach, CA - February 8 - Members of the 2008 Men's Olympic Team including Peter Varellas (Moraga, CA/Stanford), Jeff Powers (San Luis Obispo, CA/Newport WPF), and Merrill Moses (Palos Verdes, CA/NYAC) are scheduled to participate in a charity water polo match to raise money for the relief efforts in Haiti. The match featuring the Italian National Team vs the World All-Stars is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9 at 11:30am PST. Interested parties can view the match via live webcast by clicking here. The trio of USA athletes who all play professionally in Europe will be joined by some of the top talent in international water polo. A full roster is available below. Varellas, Powers, and Moses were part of the Silver Medal winning team from the 2008 Olympic Games and the group that took fourth place at the most recent FINA World Championships. The Men's National Team is next in action at the Volvo Cup later this month in Hungary.
