Australia Doubles Up Canada 12-6 To Kick Off Day Two Of Holiday Cup

Newport Beach, CA - December 10 - Australia moved to 2-0 at the 10th Holiday Cup after defeating Canada 12-6. Canada falls to 0-1-1 and will take on Italy on Friday evening while Australia will play the Netherlands. Glencova Ralph anchored the Australia offense in this one scoring four goals in the victory while Victoria Brown was strong in net with seven saves including a penalty shot stop. Tara Campbell was among many scorers for Canada with one goal and Rachel Riddell tallied seven saves in the loss.
Australia came out with the proverbial guns blazing posting a 4-0 lead after the first quarter. The Canadians would look to rally in the second period drawing to within 5-3 moving to halftime. In the third quarter Team Canada nearly came all the way back closing to 5-4 with 6:46 remaining in the period. Australia then distanced themselves yet again scoring three straight goals to go up 8-4 at the end of the third quarter. The final period was more of the same with Australia posting an additional four goals to keep Canada at bay as they came away with the win at 12-6.
