In the second period Team USA rebounded to take an 8-6 advantage going to halftime after getting another four goals, this time from Lauren Wenger, Jillian Kraus, Kiley Neushul, and Maggie Steffens.

In the third period the United States opened up a 10-6 lead with 6:10 to go in the period only to have Italy work their way back to within a score when they closed to 10-9 with just :18 remaining in the period.
