Women's National Team To Begin Play In 2009 Canada Cup

Montreal, Canada - December 2 - The USA Women's Senior National Team will begin play in the 2009 Canada Cup tonight when they take on Australia at 6pm EST/3pm PST. The tournament which runs from December 2-December 6 features the top-ranked United States of America, Australia, Italy, and the host Canada. The event also serves as a nice tune-up for the 10th Holiday Cup starting December 9 in Newport Beach, California.
The four teams in Canada this week will be joined by the Netherlands and Russia to round out the Holiday Cup field. After taking on Australia tonight the United States will square off against Canada tomorrow at 7:30pm EST/4:30PST and Italy Friday evening at 6:00pm EST/3:00pm PST. The semi-finals and finals take place over the weekend. This event marks the first international competition for Team USA since this past summer in Rome, Italy where they won their third FINA World Championship.
Team USA will be coached by Dan Klatt and anchored by Olympian and two-time World Champion Lauren Wenger. Joining Wenger are Tumua Anae, Forel Davies, Kristen Dronberger, Jillian Kraus, Kiley Neushul, Courtney Mathewson, Michelle Stein, Christina Hewko, Juliet Moss, Melissa Seidemann, Amber Oland, Stephanie Schnugg, and Maggie Steffens.
