Betsey Armstrong Named Swimming World Magazine's Female Water Polo Player of the Year

Huntington Beach, CA - November 24 - Betsey Armstrong (Ann Arbor, MI/Michigan/NYAC) was named Swimming World Magazine's Women's Water Polo Player of the Year, it was announced earlier today. The 2008 Olympian was the goalie for the World Champion winning USA Women's Team that earned Gold this past summer in Rome, Italy. The player of the year awards are featured in the upcoming December issue of Swimming World Magazine.
From Swimming World Magazine: "Known as The Redeemer for how many times Armstrong saves the U.S. women's team in goal, she has quickly become one of the most feared goalies in the sport. During the 2009 World Championships, she posted a 56 percent save percentage with an impressive 67 saves throughout the tournament. She helped the U.S. to the gold medal in Rome with 11 saves in the gold medal match."
