    1. What is ODP?
    The Olympic Development Program (ODP) serves as the primary feeder system for the USA Water Polo Youth, Cadet, and Development National Teams. The foundation of ODP is a systematic, long-term approach to athlete, coach, and referee development through a year-round training program.

    2. Why should I participate in ODP?
    Learn fundamental water polo skills from highly qualified coaches. Challenge yourself by training and playing with the top athletes in the Nation. Earn the opportunity to play on a USA Water Polo National Team. Make life-long water polo connections.

    3. Who can participate in ODP?
    The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is the entry point for USA Water Polo's Youth, Cadet, and Development National Teams. Participant ages are born in 2000 or younger.

    4. Do you have to be a member of USA Water Polo to participate?
    Yes. All athletes who participate must be Silver or Gold members of USA Water Polo. https://webpoint.usawaterpolo.com/

    5. How is ODP structured?
    The national ODP staff provides programmatic guidance and interface with the USA Water Polo men's and women's national teams. Each of the 13 zones has a Zone Head Coach for each gender. There are 2 training camps in each zone. At each of the camps there will be a Zone Age Group Coach, a National Team Coach, and a National Goalie coach. The point of contact for each training zone is the Zone Head Coach.

    6. How do I tryout for an ODP Training Team?
    There are no tryouts. All USA Water Polo Silver or Gold athletes are invited to attend the training camps in their zone or any zone they would like to. In order to be identified for participation at the National Championship, an athlete needs to attend at least one training camp in their zone.

    7. When are ODP Training Camps?
    It depends on your zone. ODP is on a seasonal schedule. This type of schedule was established to avoid conflicts with high school water polo and swimming seasons and major club water polo seasons. Please refer to Camp Dates section of website to find an ODP camp in your zone.

    8. What are the costs to participate in ODP?

    ODP Camp Fee $200-$165 Camp fee is $200 for a weekend camp (outside CA) and $165 for a 1 day camp (in CA)
    ODP Championships $520 plus Air and food Airfare and food will be paid for by athletes and parents; Hotel and transportation will be covered by ODP. Championship fee is $500, if fee is paid in 21 days of invite. Fee goes to $570 after 21 days.
    National Team Selection Camp Fundraising $1,275 Since 2001, all athletes who have been selected to be a part of the pipeline have been required to do fundraising. All Athletes who attend the NTSC are required to fundraise. All travel arrangements are made by USA WP, and paid for by USA WP
    National Team Training Camp $0 For athletes selected to participate, there are no additional costs for participation
    International Competition Golf Tournament Fund Raising $1,600 If an athlete is selected to participate on a travel team, they will be required to fundraise for the Sept. Golf Tournament Event. Athletes at every level are required to participate in this fundraising event. All Travel arrangements are made by USA WP and paid for by USA WP.
