Athlete of the Month - August 2010 Matison Alderman - Tamiami Titans

Matison Alderman, 16 from Miami, FL plays for both Coral Reef High School, and the Tamiami Titans. Her freshman year she was thrown into the goalie position simply because there was nobody else and ever since then she has excelled, making honorable mention in the Miami Herald both her freshman and sophomore year, and carrying her team to earn 2nd place in their district freshman year and third sophomore year. She recently started her club team and is hoping to start competing shortly. Along with her skill I believe she deserves this honor because of her dedication. Matison has a torn labrum along with many other rotator cuff injuries and despite the recommended surgery from her first doctor her second doctors presented the option of intense therapy so she could continue to play and not leave her high school team with out a goalie. Despite the pain and time the therapy requires she does it so she can continue doing what she loves and to be a good teammate. For all these reasons combined, I think Matison would make a great selection of athlete of the month.
