Q: I am affiliated under the wrong club, how can I change my club affiliation?
To change your club affiliation within the open transfer dates, login to your USAWP membership account. From there, select the button that says "Change Club Affiliation." This will take you the membership history page. On the current membership line there will be a "Transfer" button; select that button. A pop-up will appear and you will have the opportunity to select the correct club. This will take effect immediately. Open transfer period refers to the period of time prior to the start of Junior Olympic qualifying tournaments and the period of time prior to the start of Champions Cup qualifying tournaments. Q: I am not participating in the Junior Olympics (or Champions Cup), can I change my club affiliation?
Once the club affiliation deadline has passed, we cannot change the club under any circumstance. However, a silver or gold athlete can participate in all sanctioned activity with any club regardless of affiliation. Sanctioned activity includes: practices, scrimmages, games and local tournaments.

Q: I just changed my club affiliation; will I get a new membership card?
A new membership card will not be issued when a member changes his/her club affiliation. You may print a temporary membership card through your USAWP membership account. A new permanent card can also be ordered for $5 through the member's USAWP membership account.

Q: How many times can I change my club affiliation?
A member can change their club affiliation as many times as they want up until the club affiliation lock date for the Junior Olympic Qualifiers, Junior Olympics, Champions Cup Qualifiers and Champions Cup.

Q: Does it cost money to change your club affiliation?
No, it does not cost any money to change a club affiliation.

Q: Why do I need to affiliate with a club?
The club affiliation requirement is to monitor our national events to ensure each athlete and team is given an equal opportunity to participate in an elite tournament. It is also an aid for coaches and club administrators to view who is in their club and to make sure that the athletes playing are compliant with USAWP rules and policies.

Q: My team is not listed as a club but my coach said I need to be member of USA Water Polo, what do I list for my club affiliation?
Double check with your coach as they may know which club you will need to affiliate with. If the club is still not listed, the club may not be current. The club will have to renew their membership.

Q: I switched my club affiliation for the Junior Olympics but our team did not qualify, can I switch my club affiliation back to my previous club?
No, your club affiliation will remain locked until the Junior Olympics has concluded at the beginning of August. You can still participate in all sanctioned activity with the previous club with the exception of the Junior Olympics. This also applies to Champions Cup in November.

Q: Can an athlete play for more than one club? If so, can I affiliate with both?
An athlete may participate in sanctioned activity with any USAWP club; however, they cannot affiliate with more than one club. To ensure that an athlete does not miss an affiliation deadline, we suggest that the athlete affiliate with the club in which they think they will play with in a national event.

Q: I am an athlete with one club and a coach on another, which club should I affiliate with?
- If you will be participating in a national event as an athlete only, affiliate with the club with which you will be playing for. - If you will be participating only as a coach in a national event, affiliate with the club you are coaching for. - If you are BOTH coaching and playing in a national event for two different clubs, affiliate with the club you will playing with as an athlete. USAWP will need to manually add you as a coach to the other club's verified roster. Please contact USAWP prior to ANY roster deadline to be manually added and for any additional questions. (membership@usawaterpolo.org).

Q: When does my club affiliation lock?
Club affiliation will lock 7 days prior to the zone qualifying tournament. For zones or divisions that do not have a qualifier, another date will be set for those athletes based on the rules set forth in USA Water Polo's Conduct of Championships. Please view the deadlines calendar for exact dates. - LINK TO DEADLINES CALENDAR

Q: When does my club affiliation unlock?
Club affiliation will unlock the day after Junior Olympics and Champions Cup conclude.

Q: My membership lapsed and I want to renew with a different club but my club affiliation has been locked. How can I change my club affiliation?
Lapsed members from the previous membership year who do not renew their membership 7 days prior to the zone qualifier will automatically become affiliated with the club from their previous membership. If it has been more than one full membership year since the lapse, then an exception will be considered.

Q: I tried to change my club affiliation prior to the deadline but it wouldn't let me. What do I need to do to change my club?
Please contact USAWP via email (membership@usawaterpolo.org) with your name, membership ID number and the club you would like to be affiliated with. Our database can identify whether or not an attempt was made to login to the membership account to change the club affiliation. Note, that there are no exceptions for a missed deadline.
