Coach Member Requirements

Coach Background Screening | CPR/First Aid | SafeSport

In order to be a registered and certified USA Water Polo coach there are five (5) steps that must be completed and current prior to contact with athletes and in any event within 60 days of the new role. Upon registration, memberships will remain "Ineligible" until all requirements have been met and member will not be able to participate OR have access to club information until account is "Current."

1.) Register/Renew your membership with USA Water Polo. You will need to select the "Coach" option from the menu. Renewal is required each calendar year. Those coaches who do not register as a coach put themselves and their clubs at risk with regards to insurance and safety.

2.) All coaches must have taken the online SafeSport course through the U.S. Center for SafeSport, renewal required every two (2) years.

3.) Coaches must have current CPR and First Aid certification on file with the National Office. Current EMT, Paramedic and ACLS Certifications are also accepted.

4.) Coaches must have a current background screening on file with the National Office. Background screenings cost $20 and are required every two (2) years.

5.) Coaches must successfully complete concussion and head injury education at least once, either in person or online. Accepted courses include, but are not limited to the CDC or NFHS HEADS UP Concussion Online Training Course.
