USA Water Polo Announces Expanded Roles For John Abdou & Stephanie London Krogius

Feb. 3, 2017

Huntington Beach, CA – February 3 – USA Water Polo has announced promotions for two veteran staff members. John Abdou has been tapped as Chief High Performance Officer and Stephanie London Krogius has been named Chief Membership & Advancement Officer. The new roles were announced today by Christopher Ramsey, USA Water Polo Chief Executive Officer.

“John has done a remarkable job strengthening our pipeline and refining our ODP program based on member feedback. We are delighted that John will now be responsible for oversight of the senior national teams,” said Ramsey. “Stephanie has demonstrated a commitment to put members first and, in her expanded role, will be in a position to further enhance the member experience.”

A veteran water polo coach, Abdou stepped off the pool deck and into the management of USA Water Polo in late 2013 to serve as High Performance Director. Among a variety of accomplishments, Abdou overhauled the Olympic Development Program including the addition of an ODP national championship, established the USA Water Polo National League, and assisted in the production of National Team events. In this new role, Abdou will continue these responsibilities while also overseeing National Team activities.

"I am honored and excited to continue to serve our athletes, coaches and the entire water polo community. I believe in the vision our organization has for the future and look forward to collaborating with everyone to continue to refine and execute it," said Abdou.

Stephanie London Krogius joined USA Water Polo as the Director of Advancement in October 2012 and was later promoted to Chief Advancement Officer. Under her stewardship, USA Water Polo saw significant increases in philanthropic support and volunteer efforts. She spearheaded the launch of a variety of targeted giving campaigns in addition to creating new initiatives, including college education seminars, donor information events, and the USA Water Polo Northern California Golf Tournament. In her expanded role, Krogius will guide both Advancement and Membership with a focus on securing more resources for member programs and providing world class member service.

"I want to thank Chris for this opportunity. I have had the privilege of getting to know many of our members over the past four years; a special and inspirational community to be sure. Member experience is paramount. I look forward to working with my colleagues to achieve best in class customer service and provide resources to help and engage all of our constituents in my expanded role," said Krogius.

The new responsibilities for Abdou and Krogius are part of a company-wide reorganization. Under the plan, USA Water Polo will also create new divisions for events and for sport growth.
