Huntington Beach, CA - May 27 - The Women's Senior National Team will be in action for the first time since 2008 this coming weekend as they entertain Canada, while the Men's Senior National Team continues competition on the heels of last weekend's Fisher Cup.
The Women's FINA World League Preliminaries hit Southern California with three games, the first of which is an exhibition contest. On May 28 the two will get together at the USA Water Polo National Training Center in Los Alamitos, CA at 7:30pm. This will be the first game for new Head Coach Adam Krikorian. From there they will face off again on May 30 at 6pm at Coronado High School in Coronado, CA and once more on May 31 at 4:30pm at Corona del Mar High School in Corona del Mar, CA. On May 30 there will also be a meet and greet with members of the national team.
Coming off of the Fisher Cup the Men's Senior National and the World University Games squad will get together as USA Red vs USA Blue at Oaks Christian High School in Thousand Oaks, California at 4pm. There will be a meet and greet prior to the game. The next day the two will play again at 6pm as part of a doubleheader with the women's team at Corona del Mar High School in Corona del Mar, California.
From there the men's squad heads to Northern California for a three game set with another participant from the 2008 Olympic Games in Serbia. The United States knocked off Serbia in the semi-final round of the Olympics and this series promises more of the same excitement. The matches get started on June 4 at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California at 7pm. After that it's on to the University of California in Berkeley for a 3pm matchup on June 6. The set is closed out with a 2pm contest at Stanford University on June 7. A meet and greet with the team will occur before each of these three games approximately two hours before the opening sprint.
Tickets for all these matches and information on meet and greets is available by clicking here. In addition volunteers and ball kids are needed for all matches. Anyone interested please contact Ashley Papenbrock at apapenbrock@usawaterpolo.org.
We hope to see you at the pool!
